TRY A LITTLE KINDNESS.

print found here.

Sooo, yesterday I ran out of coffee and forgot to buy more. This morning was kind of dreary with the occasional light rain, so after I fed the littles and showered and all that good stuff, I loaded everyone up and we went to Antidote (one of our favorite coffee shops in Houston). I thought about just going through a Starbucks drive-thru, but we are kind of snobby in that we are kind of against the idea of drive-thru coffee. Anyway, if I was going to have to drive to get coffee, I might as well get a cajeta latte, which is pretty much the best drink in the world. The parking lot is tiny and I wouldn't mind parking down the street but that means that I will also be keeping a toddler out the street while lugging a car-seat the whole walk down that street. I managed to find a decent parking spot and we all went it aaaand then we went out aaaand well, it was pouring down! I had almost reached my car (with the boys, coffee, and Ethum's drinkable yogurt) when the barista came running out with an umbrella. He chased me around the car as I was buckling the boys in and finding places for drinks and a diaper bag. When that was over, I said, "thank you. that was so kind of you". Even I was surprised at what I said. I don't think that sentence has ever been spoken with my lips but I truly meant it. This guy had chased me down, around the side of the building to make sure that I didn't get myself and my children sopping wet. Now, did I really mind getting wet? No, not really but he had stopped what he was doing while they had a line almost going out the door, just to be kind. This is what I'm talking about. It totally made my day. And to top it off, when I got home I read this blog post by Emma from Food Coma. Pretty inspiring, wouldn't ya say?

FARM DREAMS.

If you know Dave and I, you know that we have big dreams of planting our roots out on some acreage, doing the whole 'living off the land' thing. I can just imagine gardening all day, shaving sheep and spinning my own yarn, the boys roaming around with the chickens, Dave building things in his workshop, etc etc. How simple and perfect it would be... A dream.
My sweet friend, Emily, gifted this hilarious little succulent complete with tiny chicken, so that I would have a daily reminder of those dreams. Isn't she great? Thanks again, Emily!

IMPOSSIBLE THINGS.

"Why sometimes I've believed as many six impossible things before breakfast." - Lewis Carroll

I came across this magical quote this morning and how fitting it is for this time of year. It feels so strange that Christmas is only a month and a half away. I mean, it's still hot outside! I continue to find myself coming up with more projects and handmade gift ideas even though I have nearly everyone crossed off my list and just plain have enough on my plate already. Nonetheless, I believe that I have enough time to get it all done. And maybe I do but at the end of the day I am exhausted... yet the list keeps growing! Can one really complain of an abundance of inspiration and creativity? I shouldn't think so.

OUTFIT ON THE CHEAP.

Today, my outfit is inspired by J.Crew. Sometimes I browse their catalogs, put an outfit together in my head and then total up the cost. It usually ends up around $300. What?! That's just something I would never do so I like to take that bit of inspiration with me when I'm thrifting or bargain shopping. Here's a list of where I found everything and how much I spent. Shirt: New York and Co. via Salvation Army $3. Pullover: Old Navy during extra 40% off clearance sale $3.50. Knickers: Joe's Jeans via Nordstrom Rack $8. Loafers: hand-me-down from my mother-in-law.
It is so much more rewarding to shop this way. I hope it inspires you to do the same :)
